Library

St. Bede School has a strong commitment to reading, and our professionally-staffed library is a growing, living garden comprised of the latest children’s and young adult books and popular series in addition to the classics.  A collection over 6,500 volumes of fiction and nonfiction  range in interest and levels for the reading pleasure of all students K-8.  Classes come to the library once per week to browse and check out books.

The School’s library catalog, Destiny, is available for students to use both at school and at  home so that they may see what books are in the library.  Older students have accounts in Destiny and can create their own personal book shelves, lists, recommendations and book reviews for their friends and classmates. Book records in Destiny include Accelerated Reader information on each book. The school is a strong participant in the Accelerated Reader program and books for the library are selected with AR in mind.

To accomodate our students’ nonfiction research needs, we subscribe to several databases for the exclusive use of our students and families,  including World Book, Culturegrams, and Biographies Online.  Databases may be accessed both at school and at home (see Reference page).

Two bookfairs are held each year to make sure the latest books are on the shelves and accessible by the students.

A busy place for fun and learning, the St. Bede School Library is truly the center of our wonderful school.
