The St. Bede the Venerable School Builders Club is an organization of students dedicated to serving their parish, school and community through projects that build leadership and responsibility. The Builders Club is open to all seventh and eighth grade students who wish to join. The Club’s meetings are held every other Tuesday in the Parish Center during lunch. At the meetings, upcoming service projects are discussed, and Club members listen to a guest speaker.
The club is organized under the leadership of a President, a Vice President of Service Projects, a Vice President of Guest Speakers, a Treasurer, and a Secretary.
The St. Bede Choristers is the children’s choir at St. Bede the Venerable School. Students are eligible to audition for the Choristers beginning in Fourth Grade. Once a student has been accepted as a member of the Choristers, he/she does not have to re-audition every year. Each member of the Choristers is expected to maintain grades above a “C” in their regular coursework in order to continue as part of the choir.
The Choristers sing at Sunday Masses several times a year, beginning in November. In December, the Choristers sing for the Christmas Eve Children’s Mass. School performances include an annual Christmas Program in December and Spring Program in May. The Choristers are an integral part of our school and it is a wonderful opportunity for our students to share their love of music with our St. Bede community.

St. Bede the Venerable School publishes a seasonal newspaper called Venerable Voice. The newspaper’s reporters and editors are students in the eighth grade class who wish to participate. The newspaper includes reports on school events, local restaurant reviews, editorials, short stories, interviews with our faculty, crossword puzzles and a doodle contest.
The short stories included in each paper are winning stories written by students in grades one through eight. Winners are rewarded with a prize and special recognition at the quarterly Honors Assembly. Stories are based on a theme chosen by the newspaper staff.
The newspaper staff is organized at the beginning of each school year and meets every Friday morning to discuss reports and the upcoming edition.
St. Bede the Venerable School’s Student Council is committed to promoting good citizenship, encouraging a high standard of scholarship, arousing a spirit of pride within our school, demonstrating the practical applications of democracy, and contributing to the general welfare of the school and community. All Student Council members are encouraged to attend the TACSC Leadership Conference during the summer following their election to office.
The Student Council convenes weekly, giving the representatives the opportunity to discuss current issues, to plan events, and to problem solve. Some activities of the Student Council include running school assemblies, organizing special events (such as the activities listed above), and conducting fundraisers (e.g., Pictures with Santa and Valentine’s Day Candy Grams).
Every May, the Student Body of St. Bede the Venerable School elects a five- member Student Council that serves as representatives of the student body. Only those students from grades six and seven are eligible to run for office. Students in grades 5, 6 and 7 are eligible to vote.
Student Council includes:
President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, Student Activities and Religious Activities as well as the Builders Club President and the 8th Grade President.
This year Student Council elections will take place in May. Attendance at the pre-election meeting to explain the procedures, policies and minimum requirements regarding running for Student Council office is mandatory for all interested students. Students are given the Petition to Run for Office which they must complete and have signed by both parents.
